The PEth Study is for formerly homeless individuals currently housed at Catholic Charities in Spokane. This study utilizes a behavioral intervention called contingency management, in which participants receive gift cards for making their appointments and providing blood samples consistent with a reduction in alcohol use and/or sustained abstinence. Blood samples are collected by finger prick, much like a diabetic does for checking blood sugar. Alcohol use is then determined by alcohol-related markers in the blood. The study requires participants to answer questionnaires in addition to providing blood and urine samples at weekly to monthly interviews for up to 6 months. If you are interested in learning more about the study and to find out if you are eligible, please call (509) 818-7024 or fill out the contact information sheet below and we will contact you.
